Mostly self taught, Tom credits his parents, relatives and friends for encouraging his

early interest in art and drawing which never faded. His expertise grew to include

sculpting in clay and wood. Woodturning has become yet another facet of his art.

Perhaps best known for his three dimentional and relief carvings on turned bowls,Tom

credits his friends in the Inland Northwest Woodturners Organization with helping him

reach his goal. Of his special gift Tom says he takes no credit. The talent is a gift and my

hands are its tools. He retired as an illustrator for the U.S. Forest service in 1983 in

Coeur d'Alene, ID.
